New to forums.

Is there a way to discuss projects more locally with those doing similar stuff?

I am in KY.

The only way to find out is to post your questions/describe what you are working on, and hopefully somebody in your area, doing a similar project might consider contacting you, even though highly unlikely in this forum.
People usually contacts these forums when they face problems not to discuss projects.

It would also help to title your post with a better description, such as "Looking for help in KY vicinity with PIC16Fxxx project". The single word "New" does not invite appropriate responses. Perhaps there is a technical school in KY with a course on microcontrollers, and you might find a discussion group there.

Assuming this is a personal and not professional project....
You could search for a local hackerspace/makerspace and see if there’s one in your area?
At least there’s will be someone with some microcontroller experience, if not exactly the same sort of projects you are considering.
