How to program pic32MK family without downloading MPLABX

I tried using the scripting tool found in an archive for pickit3 programmers. This is not ideal because 1) It does not seem to recognize newer programmers like pickit4 and icd4 2) the programming app does not seem to recognize the pic32MK family. The README suggests that it supports the pic32mx family but even those devices do not show on the device pull down menu.

Is there a better alternative solution. I want a quick and simple way to program hex files onto pic32mk motor control mcus.

Do you really mean without DOWNLOADING MPLABX, or just without RUNNING MPLABX?
MPLABX comes with a command line programming tool named "MPLAB X IPE". You can use that to access all the programmers and program all the latest chips. You do have to download and install MPLABX to get it, but you don't have to run MPLABX.

Don't know of many options but here is one: https://www.northernsoftware.com/

There is also the "microbridge" https://geoffg.net/microbridge.html but it is exceptionally slow and only really useful for very occasional updates.
