VGDD problem

I installed the legacy libraries. Ran the MPLAB X wizard. Tried to compile the MPLAB X project and this is the error I am seeing.

    Why don't you continue your old thread over here
    https://www.microchip.com/forums/m1110616.aspx
    instead of starting a new one about the same thing?

    Because I was trying to post a screenshot of the compile error in MPLAB X. I thought starting a new thread might alleviate the problem. But same thing happens in the post. The strange thing about it, if I remove the screenshot, I can post.

    The following is what I see when I try to post with the screenshot.

    The error I am getting, GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_START_ADDRESS is not declared. This is an address for a buffer. Do I have to initialize this with some address?

    // initialize the work areas and display buffer base addresses global variables
    _workArea1BaseAddr = GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_START_ADDRESS;
    _workArea2BaseAddr = GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_START_ADDRESS;

    There should be a VGDD system_config.h in the project with hardware specific definitions:

    (...)
    // GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_START_ADDRESS - This defines the constant used to set the location of the display buffer location.
    // for the PIC24FJ256DA210 the address used must be consistent with the "DATA SPACE MEMORY MAP FOR PIC24FJ256DA210 FAMILY DEVICES

    #define GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_START_ADDRESS 0x00020000ul
    #define GFX_DISPLAY_BUFFER_LENGTH BUF_SIZE // 0x0004B000ul // This defines the size of the display buffer in bytes.
    #define GFX_EPMP_CS1_BASE_ADDRESS 0x00020000ul
    #define GFX_EPMP_CS1_MEMORY_SIZE 0x00040000ul // G
    (..)

    Interesting, I see the file, but the lines are not in it! So can I just insert these lines?

    What hardware do you have?
    You might run the MPLABX wizard in VGDD (under: "Tools") that creates the system_config. If you have a MC development board or display the generated config should fit perfect. If not, it might be a good starting point to choose a display with similar technical properties.

    Btw: VGDD ist open source now.

    The hardware is the PIC24FJ256DA210 development board and the 3.5" Hewhaven 320x240 that plugs into the development board. I select these two in the VGDD MPLAB wizard. I love the VGDD designer. If it only worked for me. Have you had success with it? When you say open source, do they no longer charge for it. I am using the demo version. Maybe this is the problem.
