pic32m-ld Invalid argument

MpLab X 5.25
xc32 2.20
PIC32Mx795F512L
windows 10
if I wait for a while after editing it does not happen.
If I hit build and debug again after a pause it works

Since I enabled View, Toolbars, Performance I have not seen this again, I will toggle this and test again tomorrow.

After working with it some more the invalid argument is there with the Performance, maybe a little less.
It is a "random" hit and miss thing.
