License for MPLAB Device Blocks for Simulink

is there anymore Microchip license needed for Simulink blocksets or does it change behaviour on some way? There is no such kind of license available in Microchipdirect.
What I saw running without XC32 license, was that Simulink didn't generate MPLAB X IDE project. .c  .h and hex files are there but the project was not generated. There is no MATLAB menu on MPLAB X IDE as described earlier documentations.
I'm running with MATLAB/Simulink 2017b with MPLAB Device Blocks for Simulink v3.44. The test was made with PIC32MZ MCU selection.

The blockset is provided free of charge.
Compiler license enable further optimisation (-o2, -o3 and -os). -o1 optimisation is fully working with the free version and is higly recommended to activate (with the MCHP compiler block option in Simulink).
You can generate code, compile and program directly from the Matlab/Simulink interface.
Some MPLAB or IPE programming functions are used in background.
One MPLAB X project is generated in case you need to debug/modify the generated code.
You might open that MPLAB X project through the Simulink Microchip menue after project has been "build" once.
You might manually open the project from MPLAB X, selecting the "myModelName.X" folder created.
Last: Current blockset version is v3.45. It can be downloaded as a hardware support package (see matlab top menu bar), or directly from the MathWorks support package webpage (see first forum thread about current release)
The documentation mentioning option to generate code from MPLAB is for an outdated blockset release.
