RN4871 Command Mode

Hi

I am just starting to use the RN4781 module for a project.

From the data sheet, I know entering [$$$] via the serial port enters command mode.

However, in normal data mode, will the module enter command mode if it finds [$$$] buried somewhere in a data stream?

Is this what the  [SR] Command - "Command Mode Guard" bit is for, to disable this from happening?

cheers

Tony

Yes. With that turned on, there must be one second of silence both before and after the "$$$" sequence.
It is explained terribly in the user guide.

    Hi,

    Thank you for prompt answer.

One other problem which seems vague (to me), I assume the Bluetooth serial service also has to be started?

This would be SS,40 (User Guide section: 2.4.22)

    cheers

Actually I believe Command Mode Guard requires 1 second before and after $$$ is received to switch the device into command mode __via_the_UART__. HOWEVER, If the SR,<hex16> (bit4 of the bitmap) is set to 0x2000 a HARDWARE pin must be pulled to send the into CommandMode.

-I could be wrong but that's what DS50002466 2.4.21 seems to indicate
And, yes you will have to enable the UART function with SS,40 or SS,OC (if you want UART+Device Information)
