I am not exactly sure about your question, so try this...
In Hv2 I can use the demo apps in 3 ways:
1. Use the IPE and download the hex file contained in the demo distro.
2. Use the IDE green down arrow to compile the demo source code and download the app.
3. Use the IDE iCode option to generate the MHC source code, then compile and download the app.
I believe the same options still work for Hv3. However, the Curiosity MZ EF starter kit uses a 100-pin MZ chip, whereas some of the working MZ demos use the 144-pin chip. Also, other starter kits have a different number of switches and LEDs so changes have to be made. In order to convert from the 144-pin to the 100-pin chip, the Pin Settings have to change and you must use option 3 (above) to generate the app. A newbie might find that path a little too far to go. Personally I do not find that approach helpful. If I am going to debug something, it might as well be my app, not someone else's with little/no documentation.
