Missing Harmony v3 Demos?

I have a Curiosity PIC MZ EF starter kit that I have used to do some WiFi tests using Harmony v2_06.  I was going to try the same tests using Hv3, but I cannot find any demo apps in the Hv3 distro (Wifi or otherwise).

Am I missing something?  Is this intentional?  I can go ahead with my own apps, but a good starting point for any starter kit is to have a working demo available.

Anyone?

BillP,

I think I am seeing some demos trickling in,
BUT, you have to do a "TOOLS->Embedded->MPLAB Harmony 3 Framework downloader"
to checkout the latest code from github.

There seems to be no "apps/examples" directory like in previous harmonies
but there are 'apps' folders in the new directories that they added.

Good luck!

Yes.  I did a word search on the entire Hv3 directory and could find no instance of "Curiosity".  I looked back in the Hv2_06 directory and the Harmony Help Volume 1 explains all the demos and the starter kits that are supported.  I then checked the corresponding Hv3 directories and did not see those same demos for the Curiosity PIC32 MZ EF board.
As far as the Harmony documentation for Hv3, IMHO, it looks like they just moved things around and added another complication (i.e. the GitHub directories vs. the Hv2 "framework" directories).  Oh well, I hope this (v3) is the start of some grand plan for Harmony.

Does it have anything like Harmony2 where using MHC you can generate demo code under the apps settings?

I am not exactly sure about your question, so try this...

In Hv2 I can use the demo apps in 3 ways:
1. Use the IPE and download the hex file contained in the demo distro.
2. Use the IDE green down arrow to compile the demo source code and download the app.
3. Use the IDE iCode option to generate the MHC source code, then compile and download the app.

I believe the same options still work for Hv3.  However, the Curiosity MZ EF starter kit uses a 100-pin MZ chip, whereas some of the working MZ demos use the 144-pin chip.  Also, other starter kits have a different number of switches and LEDs so changes have to be made.  In order to convert from the 144-pin to the 100-pin chip, the Pin Settings have to change and you must use option 3 (above) to generate the app.  A newbie might find that path a little too far to go. Personally I do not find that approach helpful.  If I am going to debug something, it might as well be my app, not someone else's with little/no documentation.

Yes.  I have posted some of the changes I found on this forum.

No.  Hv3 has its own set of demo apps.  That is why some are missing because they do not all work in Hv3 (example: the https server).

Hello,

You are correct that there is not a full set of apps for this board yet in H3.  This is just due to the workload of the Harmony 3 team, and some of these apps have not converged yet to this point.  You will find additional apps for this board for graphics and audio functions in Harmony v3.4.0, which will be released this quarter.

The WiFi functions are farther behind the curve, and will not move into Harmony 3 fully for a while longer.  There are updates in the works right now.

There is also a revision of the PIC32MZ EF Curiosity board in the works now.  It does add some features including WiFi choice, graphics and Xplained expansion board connectors.  But the pinout for the other functions is compatible.  This board will also release this quarter.

Audio and Graphics v3.4.0 releases should be out for MASTERs, and will contain support for PIC32MZ EF.  This includes both starter kit and Curiosity board variants.

Yes, the new board is targeted to be available before MASTERs as well.

The Wifi functions in Harmony 3 will not be available until later.  Of course there is support for this already in Harmony v2.06.
