MPLAB X v5.20 + Gentoo + Sway(Wayland) problems...

Hi to all,

Ihave decided to move my system from old X11 infrastructure to Wayland.

This obviosuly means that the old programs that can't be recompiled for Wayland run through XWayland interface.

"old" v. 5.15 was running fine, but new 5.20 has problems.

On startup, it doesn't fill its window. Buttons, menus etc all seem to be there- when I happen to blindly nail some widget, it reacts, I can open the File menu etc.
All seems to be functional, but invisible.

You might try this: go into tools->options->appearance->look and feel and change from the one you have to another. I use "metal", precisely because I ran into your problem.

Thanks. But it seems like a chcken-egg problem.

In other to change config, I need to see menus, which are invisible, so...

Any other idea ? Maybe I could chhange it in config file, but i don't seem to be able to locate it...

Or maybe I could try to reinstall v5.1.5, change setitings there, insdtall v5.20 and import existing settings...

    Hmm...

OK, I've tried all 4 themes and it stil doesn't work.

So, if someone of devs would care to look into this for next update, it'd be great.

I'm running a wayland implementation (debian 10) and have no trouble (using metal -- haven't tried the other themes lately) like you describe.
So it appears to be something specific to Gentoo or your video setup. I think you'll have better luck with trying to figure it out on your own. Some other things you might try:
    1. fiddle with the display settings. Change the resolution to see if it works with another resolution.
    2. If you have access to a second machine, you might try remote login -- "ssh -Y <your mplabx machine>" and run mplabx remotely. If that works, it may tell you something.
    3. Try an older mplabx. Some of the older versions worked quite well for all but the latest chips.
