MPLABX - analog input

Hi -
I understand from what I've seen on the forum that the only way of simulating an input to an AN pin is to write to the registers, as the simulator doesn't simulate to pin level.

This looks like a serious drawback. *Many* applications will use ADC, and to expect users to simulate that for the simulator is, well, peculiar.

MPLABX is so fantastic in so many ways that I'm sure the software team could easily manage a simple gui slider.

Do you have any plans (I hope) to urgently implement that feature?

Thanking you,

Why does a stimulus file which writes to ADRESH and ADRESL not work for your application? You should be able to test any code with that?

Also take a look at https://www.microforum.cc/ - a great resource for information on PIC and AVR microcontrollers and embedded programming in general. You can also post questions to the experts there.

I rarely touch the simulator, but recent posts by GeorgePauley imply that MPLAB8 used register injection, but MPLABX does inject voltage levels on pins.

    Only 10 to go...

Because I'd like to attach a slider to a pin, move it with the mouse to give a voltage from 0 to the supply, and see what happens as it changes.

    Now that I've started....
I'd also like a window that shows something like the pinout picture in the datasheet, in which digital output pins show red/black for hi/lo, digital input pins allows hi/lo srlection via the mouse, analog inputs have a slider attached, dac outputs have a "meter", I2C & SPI pins display byte values in a data stream, PWM outputs show frequency and duty cycle..... Basically everything that's useful, and practical, to show whilst stepping or slow-running through a progam..

Don't forget it's a black box, and what is actually on the pins is of prime interest.

By the way, on the forums, is it possible to view eg GeorgePauley's posts? I've tried putting his handle in the Search with no luck.

    Thanks,

PS: Please don't tell me I shouldn't want these things!
