I2C Slave Interrupts

Hi all,
I am going through the datasheet of dsPIC33FJ128MC802's I2C section, where, it refers to an 'I2C slave event interrupt'. Does this 'event' correspond to every instance of internal address write, read and all the other transitions that commonly occur in the standard I2C communication protocol? Or is it that this interrupt only occurs during the start of transmission, when the bus goes to the non-idle state?
Thank you
