What do you think of it?

I like it.

'You still haven't said which package.'

What's this 'package' thing you're talking about?

The average person could figure out when I answered '877 I was answering your 'What package?' question.

The average person could figure out when I answered '877 I was answering your 'What package?' question.

The "average person" would look in the datasheet, and see that the PIC16F877A comes in four packages.
40-pin PDIP
44-pin PLCC
44-pin TQFP
44-pin QFN

The lazy bugger who prefers other people to read datasheets for him, and just posts because he has nothing better to do, would assume that "package" meant the same thing as "device".
