Uploading multiple times to PIC32

Dear all,
I am using PIC32MX250F128B mounted on microstick II, while I upload ed the program it is uploaded perfectly and it works fine but, the problem is when I unplug the cable and power it from external power source it does not work which means I have to upload the program everytime when I want to use it. Do think this is fine in my opinion I was expecting that once uploaded it should not require further.

Thank you,

It sounds like you're burning a "debug" image into the PIC.
How exactly are you doing the burning?

Nearly there...

I think it means you do not power it correctly. I had one Microstick (don't remember which one). If I remember correctly, the power pins where not routed through to the bottom, so it would be difficult to power it externally.
