MPLABX 5.1 crashes while pgm 18F14k50

I’m using 5.1 with xc8 1.45, 14K50, ICD3 on a laptop with 16gb. Pgm is a USB CDC device. When programmed it works fine. But X5.1 disappears frequently right at the end of programming the chip. The chip usually gets the new program. X5.1 doesn’t crash at other times. I thought this was fixed in the past.

I would start with "Severe" and drill down till something was evident.
I find the USB logging takes quite a lot of effort to understand...….

    Update:
I never saw anything in any of the log files that was meaningful.
I upgraded to 5.15 and haven’t seen a crash yet.

Without a boot loader, I don't know how you could debug a PIC18F14K50, as the USB D+/- pins are also the ICSP DAT/CLK pins.  I'm fighting issues with one right now and can't debug.
