DM240013-2 (Microstick for the 5V PIC24F K-series) not reading Device ID with MPLAB X IDE

I have previously used the Microstick for 5V PIC24F-K series with earlier versions of MPLAB X IDE.
I upgraded.
I cannot connect to the Debug Tool, as it gives me an error.
Any Chance of making this work?

    Could be fried.

    That is a possibility.  My computer gives me an indication when the USB  cable is plugged in and unplugged, though.  The program that I previously downloaded is still running.  Guess I can purchase another 5V Microstick for PIC24F K series, and verify this.

    That is a possibility

    Although unlikely.
     
    10 to 1 it still works with the old version of MPLABX you were using.

    I got the following from MPLAB X IDE v4.15:
    MPLAB X has detected that the device's low voltage configuration bit is set to OFF but the tool is set to low voltage programming and cannot program the device.  To correct this:
    1. Change the tool's programming option to use High Voltage programming.
    2. Change the device's configuration bit to use low voltage (LVP=ON).  Program the device using high voltage to reprogram the device's configuration bit.
    3. Change the tool's programming option back to Low Voltage programming for subsequent programming of the device.
     
    BTW, The device is a PIC24FV32KA302

    That is a generic error message issued when it can't communicate with the PIC.
    It doesn't really tell you the real problem.

    qhb is probably right... I've seen MPLABX produce just about every conceivable error message possible when the firmware in the tool doesn't match what MPLABX is expecting to see, and most of them have nothing to do with the real problem.

    If you know that your PIC24FV32KA302 doesn't really have LVP OFF, perhaps try forcing a firmware update for the microstick. I'd remove the PIC24 from the microstick first as I don't like to have the target device connected when reprogramming the tool.
    - Go into the project properties and select the debug tool
    - in the 'Options Categories' listbox select 'firmware'
    - uncheck 'use latest firmware'
    - select 'Firmware File' and 'browse for a specific version'. You should be presented with the latest .jam file
    - Apply, OK

    After it's updated, unplug the microstick, put the pic back in and restart everything.

    If you actually have managed to set LVP OFF then you'll need to get it turned back on to get the microstick working with it. Try a new blank erased device.

    Thanks for the assistance.  I did a board layout so that I could connect an ICD-4, and it is working.  I presume that the microstick24 is bad.
