Mentor WANTED

The two mentors I had can't do it anymore.

Need somebody to help with assembly and PIC16F84 type PIC's.

Using a book somebody suggested here and just need some mentoring.

Person should have time during the morning and experience back to the PIC16F84 era. That works best for me.

Talk on the phone once or twice a week for about a half hour.

Positive and easy going would help. Plus patient.

Quick answer. No. Sorry.

That might have something to do with why I lost my most current mentor.

He has a small niche business he carries on from the 90's.

In a nutshell. I think his wife got after him for talking about PIC's during business hours.

That guy knew PIC's! All the pre PIC stuff too. Plus electronics in general and soldering.Big time!

Things are basically going well with book lessons. Just helps to go over it with someone knowledgeable.

Maybe you have a skill/trade that you could trade without money changing hands.

He's not looking for a mentor... just a fish to bite the hook.

Bucky is AKA swordfishuser/firewinguser/protonuser/PBCGuy/picmicrocontrolleruser/Palladin/Captain Freedom/Captain Invincible/PIC Jedi Apprentice/Champion and a few others, depending on the forum.

The name changes but the drivel remains the same.

I will press on here.

That is the important thing to get a mentor.

Emailing and forum questions and answers don't really cut it for a lot of situations.

When you talk on the phone you run across the little things you didn't think off and clear them up on the spot.

Yes. I am looking for a mentor.

As far as people being negative and trying to screw this up.

Go ahead. I guess there is some payoff in it for them I would probably not want to understand that kind of thinking.

Wanted mentor. Happy and positive.

I didn't realize the 'new' alias, but Jerry is right, OP Bob so far has been using lots of nicknames and avatars even in the Microchip forums.
Jim, you should consider this old thread (among all others)
https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/1046613
before you waste your time.
[edit: ok, I see you did ...
The current nickname is "Total Amateur", the nickname just a few minutes ago was "Bucky"]

There! Changed user name again.

And...?

No sinister motive behind. It's a fun thing to do.

This is one of the few forums where you can do that. Maybe the only one.

Keep updating user name because trying to dial it in.

Could use a mentor!

some forum software problem with this thread.

AND the post shows up as UNREAD regardless of its real status (probably because it is never shown)

I answered the first post with an offer to help.

Only after that did I think to check the posters profile.

When I saw that the profile had a negative 172 did it occur to me that this thread could be another troll.

At that point I used a banned word to make my post invisible.

So at about post #20 this thread will start to "flash", sorry.

All: Please don't insult or down vote this poster. That can only serve to justify retaliation on his part. So if you must respond be civil and on point. This posters past behavior can speak to the quality of his character.

<EDIT>
So as not to add to the post count of this thread this is a follow up to:
picmicrocontrolleruser (aka. Total Amateur)
Why was the word 'ping' in the alert from Microchip Forum about your 'offer to help' in my email?

Unknown, possible something that rodmis put in his reply. It is not something the forum software does.
picmicrocontrolleruser (aka. Total Amateur)
Why did you destroy the post?

It should be obvious but to be blunt I do not want to be your mentor.

I do hope you find someone that will help you.

While you're being so talkative can you do this please?

Why was the word 'ping' in the alert from Microchip Forum about your 'offer to help' in my email?

Why did you destroy the post?

All it would of taken is 'Gee I made a mistake. I can't help you.'

I'm reporting you.

Still could use a mentor. I should get one just for putting up with all this.

These same people could just help instead of being this way.

My other mentor has a family member medical situation.

I know medical costs are serious business. So he is probably getting put through the wringer.

As far as getting a mentor we could qualify each other by PM first.

It's more about how lessons I'm doing now fit in with where I'm going.

Do get stuck once in awhile but doing lessons is going very smoothly.

Edit

"I do hope you find someone that will help you" Thank you.

I'm on Pacific time. Morning from 8:00 AM to Noon best. Noon until 5:00 PM not available for this.

Evening until 9 or 10 would be okay. Thanks.
