Serial Monitor Not Working

Hi,
I`ve got a PIC16F18345 evaluation board which I want to debug using Serial monitor via the USB port (like an Arduino). First it was only recognized by my computer as a flash drive and was not assigned a COM port so I used the .inf file from this repo: https://github.com/MicrochipTech/XPRESS-Loader/tree/master/utilities/inf . Now I see it as COM5 USB Serial Port in Device Manager. I`m also using CoolTerm with baud: 9600, Data Bits: 8, parity: none, stop bits: 1, however I don`t see anything as an output. For .hex file I compiled an example project "Serial monitor" from the MPLAB Xpress IDE. I just added "EUSART_Write('a');" next to the "printf("Hello from MPLAB Xpress!\n\r");" in the main function while(1) loop. However no result. The board LED blinked when I uploaded the .hex file.
Do you have any suggestions? Should I use a special driver?

Cheers!

Thank you for the quick answer, but I followed the exact same example and still no result.

Did you configure and set the uart on the pic to match the terminal program?
Make sure the terminal program is using the same com port.
