Easy Bootloader Library version 2.11 available (EZBL v2.11)

If you are using EZBL, need a bootloader for a PIC24, dsPIC33, or PIC32MM device, or just want some APIs for doing Run-Time Self Programming/data EEPROM emulation in flash on these device classes, then head on over to https://www.microchip.com/ezbl for the latest EZBL v2.11 download.

EZBL v2.10 was recently released and added support for UART bootloaders on all PIC32MM devices. This v2.11 update:
  • Fixes regression bugs applicable to v2.10 (relative to v2.04) on 16-bit devices
  • Fixes Application usability problems applicable to the PIC32MM implementation
  • Adds USB Host MSD "thumb drive" Bootloader type (ex_boot_usb_msd) for the PIC32MM0256GPM064 Family of devices.
The 16-bit regression issues were limited to only a few devices/configurations and are minor (i.e. Bootloader project Build failure or run-time programming failure, but only while executing in Debug mode). The PIC32MM issues were not catastrophic either but would inhibit real-world Application projects from starting correctly without manual effort to hide certain symbols in the ex_boot_uart_pic32mm.merge.S file.

Who wants to be the unlucky person to stumble upon and spend time looking at a problem that has already been fixed? Go grab a copy of EZBL v2.11 today.

As of 06 September 2018, the Release Notes link may provide you with old EZBL v2.10 release notes, even though the EZBL download link will provide the correct ezbl-v2.11.zip file. This is a server-side content caching behavior and the release notes link should provide the correct content in a day or two. For immediate viewing, download the .zip and open "ezbl-v2.11\help\EZBL Release Notes.htm".

    Hi,

after some time, I manage to handle the latest ezbl (v2.11) on both a "PIC32MM USB Curiosity" and a custom board with a PIC32MM0256GPM064. The main problem for me was given by the error "Abnormal reset detected, skipping bootloading until POR/BOR/MCLR"... This happens to me expecially during cold starts, when the card was basically waiting for some time (ignoring the available update) before launching the old application . This did not happens on warm starts (on MCLR).

Not sure if this is a bug on ezbl 2.11 or not.

       Best regards,

    Hi iw2lsi,

How did you managed to use it with pic32 mm usb curiosity board?
    I'm blocked on exercice 2 of the bootloading exercices ( https://www.microchip.com/forums/m1069416.aspx ).

If you have any information that may be helpful it would be great.

    Regards,
    Quiwy

    Hello Quiwy

just set the led, buttons and oscillator according to the Curiosity HW... if I'm not wrong Explorer board is supposed to use an externa oscillator, while on Curiosity this component is not mounted...

If it still does not work for you, maybe tomorrow I can check the differences compared with the main branch.
