MPLAB doesn't do Windows text size right

I can't believe this has been going on for years.  I have a laptop for MPLAB which has a very high resolution screen.  Text in native resolution is microscopic and unreadable, so in Windows Display Settings I have changed the text size to 175%.  This works just fine with all other applications (they scale their text and the regions the text is displayed in) except for MPLAB.  MPLAB continues to display microscopic text and improperly-sized text regions.  This makes MPLAB very difficult to use.  This applies to the IDE and the IPE.

Am I the only MPLAB user who uses text size >100%?  Have they just not noticed the problem?

    For the IDE you could also try the following, and see if it does any good for you:

    Tools > Options > Fonts & Colors > Syntax > Font [...] > Size
    Tools > Options > Appearance > Look & Feel > Maximize use of native look and feel.

    However, I would expect that those are only half-way solutions, and I did not test it.

    MPLAB X is based on NetBeans Platform, the issue is common across all NetBeans based applications.  I can suggest the alternate solution for both IDE and IPE,
    • Go to MPLAB X installed directory, "X:\Program Files (x86)\Microchip\MPLABX\v5.05\mplab_platform\etc\
    • Edit mplab_ide.conf/ mplab_ipe.conf and add --font-size 20  (As per your convenience)  to default_options
    • Save the changes, Now go to e.g. %userprofile%/AppData/Roaming/mplab_ide/dev/v5.05/
    • Delete the version which you are using and restart the IDE or IPE
    • Done (New font size will be reflected in your IDE)
    e.g.
    default_options="--fontsize 15 --branding mplab -J-Dcrownking.stream.verbosity=very-quiet -J-Xss2m -J-Xms256m -J-Xmx4072m -J-Dapple.awt.graphics.UseQuartz=true -J-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -J-XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -J-Dapt.limit.expanded.params=1000 -J-Dplugin.manager.check.interval=EVERY_STARTUP -J-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -J-Dorg.netbeans.modules.extbrowser.UseDesktopBrowse=true -J-Dnetbeans.importclass=org.netbeans.upgrade.AutoUpgrade"
