PICKit4/IPE 4.15 bug
After trying 16 and 18 series parts to check it functions, now i get to try the normal (smaller, cheaper) parts i prefer using only to find it's stuffed...
If i try to program the good old 12F675 it won't connect reliably, and to make matters worse, corrupts the OSCCAL value in the process;requiring blank/recal and re-progam with my PICkit2...a real pain in the butt. so i give it a break, and try with a tube of 12F1572 chips; only to find the standalone PK3 app doesn't cover these parts...back to PK4...still flaky, but it programmed it OK...except; it doesn't run.now i wonder does 'provisional' support mean BUST?
Now i'm getting baffled...break out the logic probe to see why only one LED is dimply lit on the dev board.
PICKit4 is holding the PGC pin low, just enough to stop the PIC driving it high enough to light! re-connect the PK to the board with 0.1 jumpers and pull the PGC line after programming and..bingo; working! (no amount of pratting about with the settings inside the IPE cure this problem)
from this i deduce either MPLAB-X IPE v4.15 and/or the new wonder tool are stuffed. oh the joy.
