Extending UART port to Ethernet

Hello everyone
I wonder if it's possible to extend a UART serial port to send receive data with an Ethernet port? I mean that i have a device that communicates over UART serial port. I want to communicate with it from a server through TCP/IP socket. Is there any PIC controller that can sit between this device and the Ethernet LAN port and do this protocol conversion between UART serial port and Ethernet port?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Any PIC with a UART and Ethernet can do it. for the most part  PIC24 and Up.
Note you can buy Ethernet to serial bridges pre-made.

This would be much less effort, unless you're making hundreds (or more) of these devices.

This forum is mis-configured so it only works correctly if you access it via https protocol.
The Microchip website links to it using http protocol. Will they ever catch on?

The software would do it easier. Try to use UART/serial to Ethernet/IP extender like this one https://www.eltima.com/serial-to-ethernet-extender.html
