RN4871 and certification in Brasil (ANATEL)

I’m in the last stage of development of a product using the RN4871 Bluetooth module, and I know that the RN4871 isn’t certificated with the telecommunications regulatory agency here in Brasil.

They said me (ANATEL - Nacional Agency of Telecommunications) that to certificate the module, we need to build a hardware that they can do some tests related the Bluetooth radio transmitter and, at the same time, control some configurations like: channel selection (channel that the radio will operate), power of the transmitter and the Bluetooth technology (I believe that it’s fixed, Bluetooth 4.2 ?!?).

I know with the ASCII commands, I can set the RF Power in advertisement (using the SGA command) and set the Set RF power in connected state (using the SGC command), it’s enough only these command to certificate this module or do exists a specific way or manual that I can follow, to submit the module with our hardware and a specific firmware to certificate the module?

Thanks!

Working with a poor quality product, full of defects and very poor documentation, and poor customer service of the microchip, makes me very sad!

Have you contacted support ?
Or are you judging the customer service by your lack of responses to this thread ?

I found a contact on Artimar, that I believe it’s Microchip representative here in Brasil (http://artimar.com.br/). But them said me that Microchip doesn’t have the interest to certificate this module in Brasil and when I ask them to help me with the correct procedures or some tips to send the module to the certification, like ANATEL, they didn’t answer me...

Hi,
I think there is a special firmware for some Microchip radio modules which you can request to technical support.
Check if there is one for RN4871.
This firmware, if it exist, should allow you to setup the radio module according to brasilian tests requirements.
Regards

Hi RISC,
I will make contact with Microchip technical support.
I believe that exists some firmware where I can control especial functions of the radio module inside the RN4871.
These tips that you said was very useful for me!

Thanks!

Hello Andre Lemke,
Sorry for reviving this topic, but did you manage to get a hold of these things? I am in the same boat as you. I need to certify a device with the RN4871 and ANATEL asked the same thing.
I would be very happy if I could get some support

Best Regards
