Visit Microchip at SPS 2019

Microchip is excited to announce our participation at SPS 2019 being held 26th - 28th November at the Nuremberg Messe, Germany.  From simple sensors to intelligent solutions and on to the vision of a fully digitalized industrial world, SPS covers the entire spectrum of smart and digital automation. Visit Microchip in Hall 10.1 at Booth 120 to meet our experts in industrial solutions.

Explore Our Demos

At our booth, you will be able to see demonstrations of our latest technologies and solutions for a variety of markets and applications.  Here is a list of our demos with links to more product information to help you get started with your design:

10BASE-T1S Single Pair Ethernet – New Trend in Industrial Communication

10BASE-T1S is a new 10 Mbps single-pair Ethernet physical layer network technology under the IEEE® 802.3cg specification that has been designed for automotive and industrial applications. See our demonstration of how to implement a low-cost, collision-free, deterministic 10 Mbps Ethernet-based transmission over a multi-drop network.

Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)

Do you need a deterministic and uniform network? Our new SparX-5i family of Ethernet switches, with full support for TSN, provides deterministic services over IEEE 802.3 Ethernet wired networks for guaranteed packet transport with low and bounded latency and low packet delay variation. See our demonstration of zero loss protection switching using TSN Seamless Redundancy based on the new Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability (IEEE 802.1CB) TSN standard.

Dynamic Motor Control

Learn how to use the free Scilab/X2C Rapid Prototyping environment that is fully integrated into MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment to implement dynamic motor control. We will demonstrate a motor-dynamometer/generator setup for dynamic load testing with graphical visualization and easy parameter updates.

EtherCAT® Motor Control

This demo features a LAN9252/dsPIC® Digital Signal Controller (DSC)-based EtherCAT P® motor control board and a Beckhoff EP-1312 EtherCAT power injector. The slave platform is based on the LAN9252 EtherCAT slave controller and a dsPIC33 DSC that runs the EtherCAT slave stack (SSC) and an open-loop motor control program.  A Human Machine Interface (HMI) is provided by the EtherCAT Master.

EtherCAT Barcode Reader

Powered and controlled via EtherCAT cable, our EtherCAT P motor control and serial bridging demo is an example of dsPIC33 BLDC motor control and UART serial interact being used in an Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) barcode reader application.

dsPIC33CH Dual-Core Family Motor Control

This demo showcases how the two cores of the dsPIC33CH can work independently of each other in a typical configuration and during a system event like a crash. It also demonstrates how the master core manages the housekeeping and communication functions while the slave core executes the code for time-critical control loops.

PIC-IoT WG Development Board

Our PIC-IoT WG Development Board demo showcases how a simple 8- or 16-bit microcontroller (MCU), typically sitting in a remote sensor/actuator application, can be easily set up with MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) combined with MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) and our free software libraries. You’ll also see how you don’t need to be a security or wireless guru to configure the onboard secure element and Wi-Fi® device. The board comes preloaded with the firmware to authenticate to Google Cloud IoT Core and upload temperature and light data to the cloud and send text messages or switch commands back to this board, all with about 10 lines of code.

FuDaTong Wireless Power/Charging

Learn how the dsPIC33 DSC, with its powerful DSP core, high-speed Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and high-resolution Pulse-Width Modulators (PWMs), provides a high level of programmability to enable standards-based and proprietary wireless charging solutions. The dsPIC33-based 15W transmitter complies with the Qi™ standard and supports CAN, NFC and Authentication. Targeted for applications such as power tools and industrial robots, our 200W Transmitter/Receiver solution is based on a proprietary protocol, provides greater than 90% efficiency and includes an advanced foreign object detection scheme.

Video and Imaging Kit

See a demonstration of our PolarFire® FPGA Smart Embedded Vision hardware platform for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications running a power-optimized object recognition application. As compute workloads move to the edge, PolarFire FPGAs offer 30-50% lower total power than competing mid-range FPGAs with five to ten times lower static power, making them ideal for a new range of compute-intensive edge devices, including those deployed in thermally and power-constrained environments.

CAN Partial Networking

This demonstration features our ATA6570 high-speed CAN Partial Networking (CAN PN) transceiver interfacing with a CAN controller and a two-wire CAN bus.

AWS Cloud Gateway

With Microchip and Amazon Web Services (AWS), you can link numerous edge nodes to Amazon’s cloud-based web services to create a cost-effective cloud solution. Our AWS gateway solution allows you to significantly reduce the amount of data sent to the cloud, thereby lowering your costs. A Microchip-powered gateway running the AWS Greengrass core can provide local services inside a building, truck or home, connecting many edge node sensors or devices within your local environment.
