Our Passive Entry Pass Start (PEPS) system enables hands-free interaction with the vehicle. It allows the driver to lock or unlock the vehicle doors and to start or stop the vehicle engine without performing any manual action either with the key fob or a mechanical key. Individual key fobs can be customized for drivers, adjusting seat and mirror positions automatically and setting the car's infotainment system settings. Although the key fob can include a conventional Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) button, PEPS allows a more natural and convenient way to enter and start the vehicle while maintaining a high level of safety and security.

In a bi-directional PEPS system, the key fob and the vehicle module both contain transceivers that communicate wirelessly to detect each other. The module in the vehicle continually sends out encoded messages and it responds when the key fob is in range. If the encrypted messages are correct, they identify the vehicle and key fob to each other and the door opens, allowing the car to start. A traditional uni-directional RKE PEPS can also be implemented with our solutions.



Microcontroller (MCU) + Immobilizer + 3D LF Receiver

The ATA5700/ATA5702 is a highly integrated, ultra-low power car access controller for PEPS and RKE applications, featuring an embedded AVR® 8-bit microcontroller in a single QFN 38 package. The device includes a highly sensitive 3D Low Frequency (LF) receiver, an immobilizer front end, and an Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK)/Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter. It combines ultra-low power LF technology with outstanding RF performance.

LF Driver

The ATA5291 is an LF antenna driver device for PEPS systems. It can drive up to eight low-frequency antennas (coils) to provide a wake-up and initialization channel to the key fob. Each driver is programmable up to a peak current of 1A (independent of battery voltage) and adjustable in 18 steps.

RF Transceiver

The ATA5833 is a highly integrated, low-power UHF ASK/FSK RF transceiver with an integrated AVR® microcontroller, an RF front end and a digital baseband. The product is designed for the ISM frequency bands in the ranges of 310 MHz to 318 MHz, 418 MHz to 477 MHz and 836 MHz to 956 MHz. The external part count is kept to a minimum due to the very high level of integration in this device. It combines outstanding RF performance with highly sophisticated baseband signal processing to easily implement robust wireless communication.

Voltage Regulators

Our basic power management solutions include several automotive-grade linear and switched voltage regulators.
