Our Passive Entry Pass Start (PEPS) system enables hands-free interaction with the vehicle. It allows the driver to lock or unlock the vehicle doors and to start or stop the vehicle engine without performing any manual action either with the key fob or a mechanical key. Individual key fobs can be customized for drivers, adjusting seat and mirror positions automatically and setting the car's infotainment system settings. Although the key fob can include a conventional Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) button, PEPS allows a more natural and convenient way to enter and start the vehicle while maintaining a high level of safety and security.
In a bi-directional PEPS system, the key fob and the vehicle module both contain transceivers that communicate wirelessly to detect each other. The module in the vehicle continually sends out encoded messages and it responds when the key fob is in range. If the encrypted messages are correct, they identify the vehicle and key fob to each other and the door opens, allowing the car to start. A traditional uni-directional RKE PEPS can also be implemented with our solutions.
