The Microchip multi-chip LIN System-in-Package (SiP) is designed for LIN-bus node applications which demand high levels of integration with lower costs, all within a complete system solution.

  • LIN Transceiver designed according to LIN 2.X, ISO17987-2:2016 and SAEJ2602-2
  • Built-in voltage regulator with 3.3V or 5V output voltages and output current up to 85 mA
  • Programmable Window Watchdog via external resistor
  • Either an AVR®, Arm® Cortex® M0+ microcontroller (with peripheral touch controller) or a PIC® microcontroller in a single package

Designing a low-cost LIN based touch system just got much easier. Our LIN System-in-Package (SiP) solutions combine the performance and energy efficiency of an Arm Cortex M0+ processor with an optimized architecture and peripheral set with the feature-rich LIN System Basis Chips (SBC).

The Microchip SAM HA1 series builds on decades of innovation and experience in automotive embedded Flash microcontroller technology and a strong LIN SBC portfolio by combining the performance and energy efficiency of an Arm Cortex-M0+ based MCU with an optimized architecture and peripheral set and a feature-rich LIN SBCs. The provided one-chip LIN solutions offer highly flexible small-footprint devices for various LIN applications. They offer a highly flexible hardware touch controller enabling the implementation of buttons, sliders and wheels.

  • Flash memory densities range from 16 KB to 64 KB with SRAM ranging from 4 KB to 8 KB

Some SiPs have all pins of the LIN-SBC and the microcontroller bonded out to provide the same flexibility for their applications as when using discrete parts. Others have internal connections in order to have more features available in a small package.

One of Microchip Technology’s key design partners, IHR GmbH, has developed LIN-compliant drivers for Microchip’s PIC16F, PIC18F, PIC24F, ATtiny, ATmega, ATxmega and ATSAM families of microcontrollers.

IHR is one of the leading manufacturers of diagnosis and emulation tools, as well as gateways for the automotive industry. IHR GmbH is also an associated member of the LIN consortium and has been performing LIN conformance tests for LIN 1.3, LIN 2.0 and LIN 2.1 test specifications.

To further aid the user in configuring the driver for their end application, IHR has developed a LIN Configuration Tool. This tool helps automate the process of generating LIN-compliant code which contains bus configuration information, node information and signal data using the LIN Description File (LDF).
