USB to Ethernet Controllers

The USB to Ethernet connection takes advantage of the ubiquity and speed of USB, replacing older means of transferring information. USB-based networking technology offers a cost-effective and smart design alternative to traditional PCI/PCI-Express networking solutions due to the flexibility of routing and placement of Ethernet and USB connectivity ports. Microchip integrates Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and high-performance 10/100 Ethernet in its line of standalone USB to Ethernet controllers and USB to Ethernet Hub controllers.

Standalone USB to Ethernet

  • Single-chip, Hi-Speed USB 2.0/HSIC to 10/100 & 10/100/1000 Ethernet controllers
  • Requires only a single 25 MHz crystal
  • EEPROM-less design option helps to reduce BOM costs
  • Implements reduced power operating modes including enhanced energy detect power-down
  • Supports numerous power management features including Wake-On LAN, Magic Packet™ and Link Status Change
  • External MII and Turbo MII (available for speeds up to 200 Mbps)
  • Industrial temperature range (-40° to 85°C) options available

USB to Ethernet Hub Combo

  • Fully-integrated 2/3/4-port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hub and 10/100 Ethernet controllers
  • UniClock technology simplifies the clocking scheme and reduces system BOM cost by using a single 25 MHz crystal for both USB and Ethernet connectivity − without the need for extra components when adding USB hubs
  • Multiple Operating Systems supported including: Windows® 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Linux® and Mac OS®, among others
  • Industrial temperature range (-40° to 85°C) options available
