  MCP9804 Data Sheet (12/03/2009)
The MCP9804 digital temperature sensor converts temperatures between -40°C and +125°C to a digital word with ±1°C (max.) accuracy. The MCP9804 comes with user-programmable registers that provide flexibility for temperature sensing applications. The registers allow user-selectable settings such as Shutdown or low-power modes and the specification of temperature Event and Critical output boundaries. When the temperature changes beyond the specified boundary limits, the MCP9804 outputs an Event signal. The user has the option of setting the event output signal polarity as an active-low or active-high comparator output for thermostat operation, or as temperature event interrupt output for microprocessor-based systems. The event output can also be configured as a Critical temperature output. This sensor has an industry standard 2-wire, SMBus and Standard I2C™Compatible compatible (100kHz/400kHz bus clock) serial interface, allowing up to eight sensors to be controlled in a single serial bus. These features make the MCP9804 ideal for sophisticated multi-zone temperature- monitoring applications.

NOTE 1: The Date Code is the manufacturing date code for standard products and is represented by the first 4 digits of the trace code "YYWWNNN". YY signifies the last two digits of the year. NOTE: 2000 would be marked “00”. WW represents the working week. NOTE: The week of January 1 would be marked “01” ). If the six-digit YWWNNN code cannot fit on the package, the full seven-digit code should appear on the next higher level of packaging. For additional information, please review the Packaging Information in the Data Sheet. Please check back regularly for date codes that are not listed (TBD). This file will be updated regularly.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to Leaded (SnPb) inventory levels, Microchip and its distribution partners may ship Leaded (SnPb) parts after the date code indicated in the table.
PLEASE NOTE: Information contained in this chart regarding package types and their applicable Pb-Free date codes is an estimate provided for informational purposes only and will be superseded by updates from time to time. No representation or warranty (express or implied) is given and all liability is disclaimed by Microchip Technology Incorporated with respect to the accuracy or your use of such information.
