“I started working at Microchip in January of 1993 and have thoroughly enjoyed my 13 years at the Chip. I came here with no semiconductor experience and over the years have gained knowledge beyond my belief. I have been blessed with being able to work with many wonderful people over the years. These people have taught me so much and have given me the opportunity to grow successfully. Microchip’s tuition reimbursement program has also given me the opportunity to grow as well; it has allowed me to continue my education. The one thing I appreciate most about coming to work is the friendly, family oriented atmosphere. The longevity of many of Microchip’s employees is great, and that says a lot about Microchip as a company. Thanks for the many great years!” -Belinda, Process Engineering

==============================================

This industry has always been interesting to me. I started in the semiconductor business at Dickson Electronics in 1969, moved to Motorola in 1972, then to General Instrument in 1976 and Microchip

Technology in 1989. Microchip was a whole new breed of company from any I was previously associated with because from the beginning it seemed things started to change. There were changes in management focus. People were empowered to be creative and make improvements. The yields were very low back in the beginning and now they are above industry standards. These improvements were made because people were able to make changes from the design, manufacturing and test phases of the products. We all work together cross functionally to get it done.

The management practices changed also. A Mission Statement was designed by the Executive Management Staff for Microchip with a set of Guiding Values that we live by today. They are placed through out our buildings as a reminder of why we come to work every day and what our focus is. We look for people with certain characteristics that we feel will fit into the culture when hiring.

I personally like coming to work because I like the challenge of the manufacturing area. I like the people I work with. There are always challenges. There is no better culture than the one at Microchip. We have had people leave and come back because of our culture. People are treated fair and many of them realize what a great company Microchip is and want to come back.

Microchip will change to meet with market needs. This can be a lot of fun because it is a challenge for everyone. The Design groups often talk to the Manufacturing people directly on a new product that needs to get to market quickly. How many companies have people from these groups, actually communicate with one another about a product? Our mix might change due to customer demand so we put emphasis on that product line. The whole team just gets behind it and makes it happen. I can’t remember who said this but here goes, “put it altogether and magic will occur”. I don’t know if it’s magic but something certainly takes place for all these people to work so well together toward a common goal.

Microchip is successful because of the people who work here. We are a Great Team. -Joanne, Production

“Microchip is the first company I have worked for where they have a defined culture based on Values that are actually practiced. This goes all the way up to the President/CEO. Often times, people work for a company, where the CEO and Leadership Team are "untouchable", and virtually just a name, but are not available. Steve Sanghi, and the Executive Staff here at Microchip are refreshingly down to earth, approachable, and they care about the employees, and it shows. They truly walk the talk. It is amazing to be able to work for, and be part of the team here at Microchip. I feel fortunate to be a part of such a great company.” – Jen, Human Resources
