Title: Selecting an MCP21XX Device for IrDA® Applications
Name: TB073
Date: 8/12/04
Author: Mark Palmer
Description: With a growing number of device options within the MCP21XX family, a guide to help select which device could be a good fit for your application has been created. All the MCP21XX devices interface to the Host Controller with a UART. The MCP2120 device uses only the TX and RX signals, while the MCP215X and MCP2140 devices use the TX and RX signals, as well as up to 6 other non-data signals. For additional information on this Host UART interface for the MCP215X (also valid for the MCP2140), please refer to Application Note 858 (DS00858).
