Gas, Water and Heat Flow Meters

As communications technology expands to gas/water meters designers need interoperable, low-power wireless to send and receive data with the utility. Microchip provides both the wireless transceiver as well as the communications and security software for ZigBee Smart Energy Profile, MiWi networking, and proprietary networks. Designers can select between standalone IC’s or agency certified modules with a variety of gain and antenna options. The 802.15.4 and sub-GHz transceivers are available as standalone chips for cost and form factor optimization or as agency certified modules for quicker and simpler design cycles. Industry standard software for ZigBee® Smart Energy Profile (SEP) and TCP/IP is available in source code form. Microchip’s MiWi™ protocol is a light weight mesh or peer to peer solution for sub-GHz and 802.15.4 networks.
