Analog to Digital Converters
Successive Approximation Register (SAR)
The majority of our integrated ADCs are implemented with the SAR architecture. SAR is a natural fit for 8-bit MCUs as it is very low power and cost effective, while providing the require resolution and accuracy for 8-bit applications.
12-bit ADC is available on the PIC16F178x family, offering up to 14 channels
at 75 ksps conversion rate. The module also supports a 10-bit mode, which can be
used if higher sample rates (up to 100kbps) are desired.

10-bit ADC can be found on over 200 8-bit PIC MCUs ranging from 8- to 100
pins. With up to 25 channels at 100ksps conversion rate, this ADC offers the best
balance of cost and performance in 8-bit.

8-bit ADC is found on several cost-optimized 8-bit PIC MCU families (including
the PIC10F2xx/3xx), brings intelligent analog capability into footprints as small

Delta Sigma
A select few of our 8 bit devices have ADCs based on a Delta Sigma architecture. The Delta Sigma architecture enables very high resolution and accuracy, at lower sampling rates.
16-bit ADC is available on the PIC18F8xJ72 family offering outstanding performance
at 90dB SINAD.

Digital to Analog Converters
Digital to Analog Converters
9-/8-bit DACs can provide an accurate reference to an on-board comparator module
in closed-loop control applications such as lighting and motor control. With a variety
of internal/external connection options, these DACs can also be used in conjunction
with an Op Amp for signal generation duties.

5-bit DACs are our most cost effective DAC solution, and provides 32 distinct
voltage output levels from rail-to-rail. The 5-bit DAC can be connected to an external
pin or a number of modules internal to the device. This combination of flexibility
and low cost provides an excellent platform for high power LED drive and simple
power supply circuits.

High Speed Comparators
High Speed Comparators
Comparators, have been included in the PIC Microcontroller line up for many years. We are now offering feature rich High Speed (50nS) variants to enable faster responding / more efficient closed loop feedback designs.

Fixed Voltage Ref provides an integrated stable voltage reference, independent of VDD. We are providing fixed FVR modules as well as modules with up to 3 selectable output levels. The output of the FVR may be configured to supply a reference voltage to the following:
