High Priority Access (HPA)

High Priority Access is a 12-month maintenance subscription providing priority technical support, web access to new versions and patch level updates for all Microchip compilers. After the subscription is purchased, it must be activated in order to start, thus the 12-month subscription will start on the date it is activated.

HPA for MPLAB® XC Compiler

All MPLAB^® XC compilers come with one full year of HPA access and no purchase or activation of it is necessary at this time. More information will provided as the current MPLAB^® XC HPA subscriptions reach their renewal dates.

HI-TECH Compiler HPA Purchase and Activation

Purchase of Microchip’s HPA can be completed either from Microchip through Microchip Direct or from one of our distributors. From there, follow the steps below to activate the HPA:

1. If you purchased your HPA online at Microchip Direct:
1. An HPA serial number will be added to your Microchip Direct account within 24 hours.
2. After waiting 24 hours from the purchase of your HPA, log in to your Microchip Direct account and click on, "My Premium Support Contracts."

3. Look toward the bottom of your account page for, "Your Registered Contracts".

4. In the same line as the compiler the HPA was purchased for and under the heading, “Action”, click on, “Activate”.
5. Your activation is complete and your HPA contract will start immediately.
2. If you purchased your HPA through a distributor:
1. An instruction sheet containing the HPA serial number will be shipped to you.
2. Once you have the instruction sheet in hand, log in to your Microchip Direct account and click on “My Premium Support Contracts”.
1. If you do not have a Microchip Direct account, you must register for an account in order to activate your HPA.

3. After registering, manually add your compiler and HPA serial numbers.
1. Look under “Order Management” or in “Support” for “My Premium Support Contracts”.

2. Under, “Your Registered Contracts” click on “Register Support Contract”.

3. Add your HPA Serial Number from your instruction sheet (3 letters followed by 9 numbers).
4. Add your Development Tool Serial Number* (Only enter the letters, not the “HCPIC” prefix)

*NOTE: Compiler serial numbers are NOT the numbers on the box. The compiler serial numbers can be found in the build log.

4. Click on Activate if you want to your HPA to start right away.
5. Your HPA will be processed within 48 hours. Once the status of your HPA changes to “Active”, you can download and install the latest version of the compiler under the “Software Download” column and activate it using your compiler serial number.
