PIC as FT232: USB to UART interface

Hi, I'been looking for a USB-UART interface as FT232 chip, to be added to MAX232 to obtain a USB-serial converter.
Is it available something similar using a PIC?
I haven't found schematics on website and/or source files.
Thanks.

    Why don't use a FT232 ???

You may download the USB framework 2.2 and
have a look at the "\USB Device - CDC - Serial Emulator"

FT232 is a bit difficult to found here and I would have some problems to buy it for job. It would be easyer buy PICs.

Guess there are some additional features you want to implement into that PIC ?

Uhm...at the moment no. I need just USB-RS232 converter (with control signals).

In that case, I think it is better to use FT232 as the FTDI driver is better than the Microsoft's usbser.sys driver.

Tsuneo has this nice writeup here.

If you still want to use the usbser.sys driver, then you can look at the USB 2.2 stack example (USB Device - CDC - Serial Emulator) mentioned by vloki.

i think this would be a great application for the new USB chips coming out (low cost)

    the 18F14K50 and 13K50.

hmm when are they coming out anyways??

this combination with a 232 chip would be cheaper than an FTDI implementation in large quantities.
