PIC10/PIC12/PIC16/PIC18 or Foundation Services Library?

Hi,

I updated MCC to the last version and started a new project using a PIC18F47K40. Now, for some resources like USART1, USART2, ADCC there are two options: A generic PIC10/PIC12/PIC16/PIC18 or Foundation Services Library. I'm not sure which one choose and I don't know the difference between them. I was searching about this, but there is no clear information.

Wich one I have to choose and why?

Thank you.

Hi,

The PIC10/PIC12/PIC16/PIC18 versions are part of the peripheral library with the same name; selecting these versions offers you the possibility to directly set up the peripheral in its finest details, via the Easy Setup view. Use these versions if you want complete control over the configuration process (i.e. you have a specific set-up to implement and/or constraints derived from that).

The Foundation Services versions are more abstract in nature, typically offering the basic functionality of the peripheral easing the configuration process. Use this if you don't know much about the peripheral and its capabilities and/or you just need the functionality added to your application.

Both are add-on libraries you can add/update/remove from MCC. Here are links to individual libraries, along with Release notes for each: http://www.microchip.com/mplab/mplab-code-configurator
