MPLAB X IDE 4.00/4.01 Problem with Low Voltage Programming

Since upgrading the MPLAB X 4.00/4.01 I get the following error:
 
Now Downloading new Firmware for target device: PIC16LF1705 
Downloading bootloader
Bootloader download complete
Programming download...
Downloading RS...
RS download complete
Programming download...
Downloading AP...
AP download complete
Programming download...
MPLAB X has detected that the device’s low voltage configuration bit is set to OFF but the tool is set to low voltage programming and cannot program the device. To correct this:
1. Change the tool’s programming option to use High Voltage programming.
2. Change the device’s configuration bit to use low voltage (LVP=ON). Program the device using high voltage to reprogram the device’s configuration bit.
3. Change the tool’s programming option back to Low Voltage programming for subsequent programming of the device.

 
I didn't have this issue with IDE 3.65, nor do I have this issue if I revert back to 3.65. I have a 10k pull-up on MCLR and need to keep the LVP bit set as I have another peripheral on the MCLR pin that I don't want to overvoltage. 
 
Any ideas why the new IDE doesn't work similarly to 3.65?

    This sounds very strange. There's absolutely no way to tell that the LVP bit is not set, unless they disregarded your LVP setting and applied the high voltage to find out. I would file a ticket with Microchip.

    I took your advice and opened a case. I'm not encouraged since Microchip's past performance in addressing my cases has been less than stellar!
     
    Hopefully, someone in the community can shed some light.

    Does your code actually set the LVP bit to ON?

    Yes, the last line in my configbits.h file is:

    Did you ever get any solution from Microchip on this issue? I am having exactly the same problem.

    Same here. Having the problem with MPLAB X 4.00 and 4.05. No problems with 3.65.
    (Im using a PICkit3 and a PIC16F1455)
    Has anyone solved the problem yet or heared back from Microchip?

    Hi Bjorn,
     
    Yes, we have verified this to be an issue.  We have verified it to be an issue when using the alternate RA0/RA1 pins, not the RC0/RC1 pins.  We will be looking closely at the issue for our April release.  Please continue to use v3.65 as we try to resolve this issue.
