Purchasing and Activating High Priority Access and Upgrades

If you have any problems completing the activation for your HPA, please complete this form.

  1. Purchase your HPA either online at microchipDIRECT or through a distributor.

  2. If you purchased your HPA online at microchipDIRECT: microchipDIRECT will provide you with a HPA serial number in for your purchase within 24 hours. This serial number will be assigned to your microchipDIRECT account and you will be notified via email.

    If you purchased your HPA through a distributor: you will recieve a letter containing the HPA serial number.

  3. Log in to your microchipDIRECT account and click on My Premium Support Contracts. If you do not have a microchipDIRECT account already, register for one here.

  4. The bottom of your page will list all your support contracts.

    If you purchased your HPA through microchipDIRECT, it will be indicated with “Waiting for Activation” in the Status column. Click on “Activate” and enter your Development Tool Serial number.

    Otherwise, you will need to click on “Register Support Contract” to enter your HPA Serial Number and Development Tool Serial Number manually.

    The HPA Serial number should be the one you were issued from the order beginning with 3 letters followed by 9 numbers.

    The Development Tool Serial Number is the serial number of your compiler for which you purchased the HPA. Please note you will not need to enter the prefix (eg. if your serial number is HCPIC-123456789, you will only need to enter the numbers without the “HCPIC-” prefix).

  5. Your HPA will be processed within 48 hours. Once the status of your HPA changes to “Active”, you can download and install the latest version of the compiler under the “Software Download” column and activate it using your compiler serial number.
