The Automotive Networking Development Board is a low-cost modular development system for Microchip’s 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers targeting CAN and LIN network related applications. The board supports devices using the 100 pin Plug-In Module (PIM) connector for easy device swapping. The board has four Mikrobus™ sockets which allow the user the ability to develop with a variety of MikroElectronika Click™ add-on boards. The board also includes a PICtail Plus edge connector for backwards compatibility to PICtail Plus boards used with the Explorer 16 Development board.

The CAN BUS Analyzer Tool is a simple to use low cost CAN bus monitor which can be used to develop and debug a high speed CAN network. The tool supports CAN 2.0b and ISO11898-2 and a broad range of functions which allow it to be used across various market segments including automotive, industrial, medical and marine. The toolkit comes with all the hardware and software required to connect a CAN network to a PC. The Graphical User Interface makes it easy to quickly observe and interpret bus traffic.

The CAN/LIN PICtail™ (Plus) Daughter Board (AC164130-2) can be used with either the Explorer 16 Board or the PIC18 Explorer Board. This daughter board is used to facilitate rapid implementation and evaluation of applications that use Controller Area Network (CAN) and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) interfaces. The PICtail Plus interface is used for connection to Explorer 16 Development Board for 16-bit and 32-bit MCUs. The PICtail interface is used for connection to the PIC18 Explorer for PIC18 8-bit microcontrollers.

An older version of this board that only supports connection to the Explorer 16 Development Board is still available. The ECAN/LIN PICtail™ Plus Daughter Board (AC164130) can only be used with the Explorer 16 Development Board for PIC24 16-bit microcontrollers and dsPIC33F Digital Signal Controllers.
The dsPIC33EV 5V CAN-LIN starter Kit features the dsPIC33EV256GM106 Digital Signal Controller (DSC) for automotive and motor control applications. The Starter Kit contains serial data ports for CAN, LIN and SENT, a self-contained USB programming/debug interface, and an expansion footprint for flexibility in application hardware development. This board allows users to explore three popular automotive and industrial serial data formats (CAN, LIN and SENT). The PICkit On-Board (PKOB) USB programmer and debugger allows simple programming without the need for an additional hardware interface. No other external tools are required to program the device.
The LIN Serial Analyzer development tool enables the user to monitor and communicate to a LIN (Local Interface Network) bus using a Personal Computer (PC). This is a powerful tool which can be used to send messages, monitor the bus traffic, perform errors checks and filter messages amongst many other features, allowing the user to develop and debug the system implementation.

Supporting CANV 2.0B active with bus rates up to 1Mb/s, this kit includes everything needed to demonstrate, design, develop and configure a CAN node using the MCP250xx CAN I/O Expander family of products.
To Speed up software development, and to enable introduction of CAN to those who are unfamiliar with the protocol, Microchip offers unique development tool that is a combination of a software development tool and a CAN message/communication tool called the MCP2510/2515 CAN Developer’s Kit

The MCP2515 CAN Bus Monitor Demo Board kit contains two identical boards which can be connected together to create a simple two node Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, which can be controlled and/or monitored via the included PC interface. The board(s) can also be connected to an existing CAN bus.

Using the PC interface, users can configure the MCP2515 registers, send CAN messages, and receive CAN messages. CAN traffic can be generated using a button on the board not connected to the PC.

There are also several headers (test points) so the MCP2515 pins can be monitored.

The MCP2515 PICtail™ Demo Board implements a simple CAN bus using two nodes. One node uses the MCP2515 Stand Alone CAN controller and the other node uses the MCP25020 CAN I/O Expander. Each node utilizes one input (push button) and one output (LED).

The boards demonstrate a simple, inexpensive implementation of a CAN bus. The MCP2515 node transmits its input (push button) information at regular intervals and request input (push button) information from the MCP25020 at regular intervals. An LED on each node reflects the state of the other node's push button.

The MCP2515 PICtail Plus Daughter Board is a simple Controller Area Network (CAN) board designed to be used with boards containing the PICtail Plus connector. The board also has the PICkit™ Serial connector for interfacing to the PICkit Serial Analyzer tool. The CAN node consists of the MCP2515 Stand-Alone CAN controller and MCP2551 CAN transceiver. The PICkit Plus and PICkit Serial connectors allow the board to be interfaced to a variety of PICmicros so that the user can develop a CAN node. The board also contains headers or test points for most of the MCP2515 pins to allow the external functions to be monitored/evaluated.

The MCP25625 PICtail™ Plus Daughter Board is a simple Controller Area Network (CAN) board designed to be used with boards containing the PICtail Plus connector. The board also has the PICkit™ Serial connector for interfacing to the PICkit Serial Analyzer tool. The single-chip solution CAN node consists of the MCP25625 CAN Controller with Integrated Transceiver. The PICkit Plus and PICkit Serial connectors allow the board to be interfaced to a variety of PIC® microcontrollers so that the user can develop a CAN node. The board also contains headers and test points for most of the MCP25625 pins that allow the external functions to be monitored/evaluated. Additionally, there are multiple external components and jumper configurations for added flexibility.
The MCP8025 TQFP BLDC Motor Driver Evaluation Board demonstrates Microchip’s 3-Phase Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor Gate Driver with Power Module, MCP8025, used in a BLDC motor drive application. When used in conjunction with a microcontroller, the MCP8025 will provide the necessary drive signals to drive for a 3-Phase BLDC motor. The MCP8025 contains the high-side and low-side drivers for external N-channel MOSFETs. A dsPIC33EP256MC504 processor is used to supply the PWM inputs to the MCP8025 as well as handle the high-speed Analog-To-Digital Conversion (ADC) required for 50 kHz PWM operation. The MCP8025 UART interface is used to configure the MCP8025 device and to send fault information to the dsPIC ® DSC controller. The evaluation board firmware uses a 6-step trapezoidal drive control algorithm to demonstrate the MCP8025 capabilities.

The PIC32 USB Starter Kit II provides the easiest and lowest cost method to experience the USB and CAN functionality of the PIC32 microcontrollers. The board contains an on-board programming/debugger, standard A USB and micro A/B connectors, and an expansion header compatible with the PIC32 Starter Kit and expansion board such as I/O Expansion Board (DM320002) or for prototyping your own. Users can develop CAN applications using I/O expansion board (DM320002). The board contains everything needed to develop USB embedded host/device/OTG applications by combining this board with Microchip's free USB software.

The USB Starter Kit II has the same form factor and expansion connector as other PIC32 Starter Kits.
The PIC32MX1/2/5 Starter Kit provides the user with an easy and cost effective option to experience the USB and CAN functionality of the new PIC32MX1/2/5 family of microcontrollers. The board features a 50MHz/83DMIPS PIC32MX570F512L MCU with 512 KB Flash, 64KB RAM, USB Device/Host/OTG, CAN 2.0B, 48 Channel ADC, Analog Comparators, SPI Ports and UARTs. The starter kit has an onboard high-speed CAN transceiver which serves as an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two wire bus. It also comes equipped with an onboard DB9 connector to interface with the CAN2.0B based applications.

Microchip offers two similar PICDEM CAN-LIN demonstration boards to support different PICmicro® devices. All demonstrate the main features of the devices, especially those features of the integrated CAN module. In addition to the CAN network, the board also employs a LIN sub-network using Microchip's PIC16C43X and PIC18F320 device families.

Each PICDEM CAN-LIN demonstration board includes both firmware and PC software for simulating a CAN network. The firmware comes pre-programmed on the sample device. The PC software and documentation are furnished on a CD-ROM.

The PICDEM™ LIN board demonstrates the capabilities of several Microchip microcontrollers using the LIN bus protocol. It specifically supports slave node applications with PIC16C432, PIC16C433, PIC16C7XX and master node applications with PIC16X8X and PIC18FXX8. PIC16C432, PIC16C433 are the first industry microcontrollers with on board LIN transceivers according to LIN bus specification Version 1.2.
The 28 PIN LIN Demo board is a small and simple demo board which can be used to quickly start developing LIN based applications.
The RN4677 PICtail/PICtail Plus is a Bluetooth Dual Mode development board using the Microchip RN4677 Bluetooth Dual Mode module. The RN4677 module is a Dual mode Bluetooth module that complies with Bluetooth Core Specification 4.0. The RN4677 uses a simple ASCII command interface over the UART. The board enables evaluation of the RN4677 and development of Bluetooth low Energy applications in two different ways:

1) Out of the box:  When plugged into the USB port of a PC, the board will enumerate as a Communication Device Class (CDC) Serial device.  Through a terminal program, users can configure and control the module and transfer data using the easy to use provided command set.

2) As a PICtail/PICtail Plus, the board interfaces to one of hundreds of available PIC Microcontrollers through this  standard Microchip interface.  The PICtail bridges the host MCU UART to the RN4677's UART interface for data transfer or configuration using the straight-forward, easy-to-use ASCII style command set.
