Remote Monitor and Control with Embedded Ethernet
A wide range of remote communication features are possible when Ethernet connectivity is added to embedded designs. For example, it can enable end users to remotely monitor systems using a web browser or receive emails triggered by service alerts or low product inventory. It saves cost and time since they can centrally monitor, control and service their embedded systems over the Internet instead of physically being there.
New to the Microchip portfolio is a family of Ethernet products from SMSC. The Microchip Ethernet portfolio is now expanded to include 10/100 Mbps and 10/100/1000 Mbps, Gigabit Transceivers along with 2 and 3 port Switches and integrated Ethernet controllers. Also available are ARCnet and CircLINK controllers based on a deterministic protocol targeted specifically for factory automation applications. These new Ethernet, ARCNet and CircLink products with enhanced features such as Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az), Wake-on-LAN and cable diagnostics bring high performance connectivity offerings to all your embedded designs.
Microchip addresses the growing demand for embedded Ethernet products, enabling easy network connectivity for cost-sensitive embedded designs. Listed below are some target applications that benefit from embedded Ethernet for remote monitor or control.
